Bismillah.
Someone left a comment on Lisan al-Din recently, quoting Jalaluddin Rumi:
"Everyone has been made for some particular work,
and the desire for that work has been put in every heart."
How true. I was reminded of this saying when I saw this lady working happily, making traditional Malay cakes using traditional cooking methods - a rare sight indeed. She should know that she's not just a plain kuih bahulu-seller but her very presence could plant much joy in people's hearts. Really, a 'joy-baker' she was to us - this lady we chanced upon at Bukit Payung, Marang, Terengganu, Malaysia.
The look on her face said that she's contented with her earnings although it may be a meager sum for many of us. But contentment is wealth which the poor at heart is deprived of.
May Allah make us qanaah (contented) with His decree. May we be satisfied with whatever profession He chooses for us. May we realize that no matter how significant or insignificant a profession may seem to be outwardly, the one profession that matters to Him is that of servanthood.
Allahu a'lam.

Oh how cluttered the mind
restless she is though that's not her nature
how could Spirits roam
when you are not surrendered
O Lover
Be silent for the Beloved's sake
He is without letters nor voice
He is as He was
yet you refuse
avoid being in His Presence
you lament being lost in the ocean
but a fish would never drown in the sea
so swim O love
swim with Him
Be silent and know
He is God,
Noneother than Him!
"In the silence of our longing
We are together as one
But as soon as we start talking
We separate back into two
So be silent
There is honor in silence
For you and me"
- Rumi
