Bismillah.
Alhamdulillah wa shukrulillah for having been invited to pay respect to Sultan al-Ariffeen Shaykh Ismail at Pulau Besar - an island off-coast Melaka, Malaysia. Leading the ziyarah was Shaykh Adnan Kabbani, one of the senior caliphs of Naqshbandi Tariqa.
It was my second visit, Alhamdulillah. It was more special this time as we got to go inside the maqam's compound and face the front side of Sultan al-Ariffeen's grave. Shaykh Adnan Kabbani started his heart-rending du'a saying that people who are veiled will never see and understand things that people who are kashaf (un-veiled) could see and hear. So they would never understand the realities of life in the unseen realm. Shaykh Adnan made a long plea saying we were not there to make request for dunya matters; we were not after material benefits; we were there to ask so that with his barakah we could purify our hearts and change our bad manners to good manners and to present us in a pure state to Rasulullah s.a.w. What we were concerned about said Shaykh Adnan was that with the blessings from the Prophet s.a.w, Allah s.w.t will look at us. There is nothing greater than to be looked upon by Allah the Almighty and to be forgiven for all the sins that we have committed. All that we cared about was His forgiveness. All other petitions regarding wordly matters are insignificant and worthless. Instead, we pleaded for help in spiritually matters for our hearts to become a house for awliya, a dwelling place of Rasulullah and an abode of Allah; that we are always in a constant state of remembrance. We begged that with his barakah as the descendant of Rasulullah s.a.w we would be in the presence of Rasulullah s.a.w. Ultimately, Shaykh Adnan prayed so that we could all be neighbors to the awliya, to Prophet Muhammad s.a.w and Allah 'Azza wa Jalla. That is all that we aim for and nothing else matters.
Allahu 'Alam bis sawwab.
Al-Fatihah.
