Al Fatihah
Tok Teh
1915 - 14 December 2010
Inna lillahi wa inna ilai hi ra ji'un
The night she has been waiting for, has finally arrived,
her 'wedding night', her shebi arus,
on turning 95.
May Allah gathers her blessed soul
with the muqarabeen and the solehin.
with the muqarabeen and the solehin.
Always warm and jovial,
with a tasbeeh in her hand everytime we visited her,
she breathed her last on Yaasin
recited by her buddy - my mother.
recited by her buddy - my mother.
O Allah,
forgive her and forgive us all
for we shall follow in her footsteps.
To You we belong, and to You is our return.

Jalaluddin Rumi's departure was referred to as Shebi Arus
(the wedding night) because Rumi described his death
as a reunion with his lover - God.

Salam,
ReplyDeleteIt's 12.32 pm. My mother just called from Penang.
She said Tok Teh is all set to go. She looked beautiful! She's waiting for her carrier now.
Her final journey to an endless life of joy and happiness InshaAllah.
I wish I was there.
Ohh dear...surely she'll be welcomed with the best of festival, the best of homecoming, she is a queen, so gorgeous...
But her tomb is in my heart. Rumi says 'when we are gone, find our tomb in the hearts of men.'
She's with me here...now!
Al Fatihah!
