Prophetic scent

Masjid Al Bukhari
KL
9 Dec 2012
Bismillah.

Alhamdulillah wa shukrulillah, KL is such a blessed city. There's always a majlis zikr somewhere. Second Sunday each month at Masjid Al Bukhari is a night dedicated for Asmaul Husna recitation and tausiyah by Habib Ali Zaenal Abidin bin Abu Bakar Al-Hamid.

Habib Ali lectured on Kitab Akhlakun Nabi on hadith relating to the characters of Prophet Muhammad salallah alaihi wasalam.

Hadith #19 of the kitab was related by Saidina Anas Ibn Malik who said: "I have accompanied the Prophet s.a.w for ten years. I have smelled all kinds of perfume but none matches the scent of Rasulallah s.a.w."

His very being was so fragrant that the sahabah would know if the Prophet had passed by a certain route. Parents would know if their children had met the Prophet because his scent would remain on their heads as it was Rasulallah's habit to run his fingers on children's heads.

"The Prophet was known to love perfume even though his natural scent was already fragrant. That goes to show that it is sunnah and thus we must have a liking for perfumes too. And men during those days were encouraged to marry a lady who's into perfume", said Habib Ali.

Allahu a'lam.

p/s If you have been reading this blog religiously, you would know that I own only one bottle of perfume. Let's remember this the next time we go perfume shopping, that no matter how awesome or expensive perfume is, it's INCOMPARABLE to the Prophetic scent. He was utter sweet! It's mind-boggling don't you think? It's like sensory overload to me. If I were Anas ibn Malik, I might have died from ecstasy.
